About Me

Hi! My name is Arelis Cruz! I am a native Nuyorican who's always had a love for musical theater and contemporary music. I really love the ability to tell different stories through song and through acting. I received my BA in Sociology and Theatre from Skidmore College in 2017. Diving straight into a social work career upon graduating, I kept feeling like something was missing. Although, I enjoyed helping others, I kept finding myself turning back to music and the arts as a form of expression and something that truly filled me with joy. During the pandemic, I decided to start getting my hand into songwriting and released my very first single in February 2021 titled, "Just Us" which is available on all streaming platforms now. Throughout my songwriting process, I decided to continue pursuing my career as a performer and made the decision to return to graduate school. In May 2023, I received my Master's of Music degree in Vocal Performance with a concentration in Musical Theatre from NYU Steinhardt! 

 

When I'm not performing, you can find me spending time with family and friends, jamming out to 90's R&B, and looking for all the best gluten free eats in NYC.  I love collaborating with other artists and have a strong appreciation for the arts as a whole.
